New GMC and Buick Tech
Recent years have seen some incredible technological achievements, and a lot of this new tech goes into modern vehicles. But have you heard a lot about it? You might not know about Apple CarPlay or what 4G wireless internet does, but would it interest you to know that in your new GMC or Buick, you might be able to use your iPhone with your car’s built-in display, and that your new car’s 4G wireless internet capability is actually five times faster than your iPad’s? If so, and if you’re interested in exploring the latest tech in your future vehicle purchase, then read on!
This term is just what you’d expect it to be: informational and entertainment features in one package. GMC’s latest IntelliLink infotainment tech includes eight-inch-diagonal screens in the Canyon, Yukon, and Sierra, and offers features like hands-free calling and music accessibility. Colour Touch Radio lets you connect to SiriusXM or Pandora radio with only the sound of your voice! You’ll also have access to navigational systems and SiriusXM’s Travel Link, a suite of travel, weather, and sports update services. USB ports, auxiliary audio jacks, SD card slots, and Bluetooth connectivity are also available in select GMC and Buick models to let you connect your data, music, and more with your car’s infotainment system.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Just this year, GMC added Apple CarPlay functionality into the 2016 Canyon, Yukon, and Sierra. It uses your vehicle’s IntelliLink system to let your iPhone interface with your car’s visual display. This lets you use many of your smartphone apps with your vehicle’s touchscreen and with voice commands. Use your iPhone’s GPS on your car’s display, or talk to Siri with the press of a button on your steering wheel!
You’ll also see GMC Sierras, Yukons, and Canyons with the Android Auto capability which functions similarly to the Apple CarPlay, letting you connect your android device with your vehicle and helping you keep your eyes off your phone and on the road. Android Auto uses Google Maps and the Google Now personal assistant to guide you on your travels.
OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi Hotspot
All 2016 GMC models, including the Acadia and Terrain, include this connectivity that acts as a mobile hub for a driver and their passengers. This turns your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot, giving you a stronger wireless internet signal and letting you connect your mobile devices. You’ll be able to use your mobile devices without losing service or getting interruption, and your kids will be able to watch YouTube or Netflix without having to wait for the video to buffer!
OnStar RemoteLink Mobile App
Control your car with your phone! This feature is compatible with iOS or Android, and it lets you lock and unlock your doors, and remote-start your engine if you have a remote starter system installed. But that’s not all—the most interesting features let you access location services, search for nearby points of interest, and send directions to your vehicle; and you can also check your fuel and oil levels and your tire pressure!
A lot of cool tech goes into every GMC and Buick, and here at Western GM Buick, we’ll show you how to take full advantage of it with your vehicle purchase!
