To help plan your routine vehicle maintenance program we've developed this comprehensive SmartGuide. Please choose a category from the menu below to learn more about our GM Goodwrench services.
The maintenance services listed here are based on the key maintenance requirements for most General Motors passenger cars and light trucks, except vehicles equipped with heavy duty emissions or diesel engines.
The maintenance requirements outlined on this site are based on the "Short Trip" or "Schedule 1" maintenance schedule provided with your General Motors vehicle. The "Short Trip" or "Schedule 1" will provide your vehicle with the maximum protection based on our Canadian environment. How and where you drive has a great effect on your service requirements. Driving in dusty or sandy conditions, short local trips, city driving and extreme temperatures (hot or cold), will cause powertrain component lubricants to deteriorate at a faster rate, requiring more frequent replacement. This is especially true if:
- Most trips are less than 8-16 km. This is particularly important when outside temperatures fall below freezing.
- Most trips include extensive idling (such as frequent driving in stop-and-go traffic).
- You frequently operate your vehicle off-road or in dusty areas.
- You tow a trailer or use a carrier on top of your vehicle (not recommended for some models; see you Owner's Manual for details).
- The vehicle is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other commercial applications.
Please consult your Owner's Manual for other day-to-day care that is important to the proper operation of your vehicle. The recommended lubricants, fluids and service parts conforming to General Motors specifications are listed in your Owner's Manual.
