Great question. There are four options:

1. Finance (e.g. typically using the low interest rates from GM or a bank)
2. Lease (through GM (Buick only) or virtually all of our models through our in-house leasing company, Alberta Lease Co.)
3. GM's new Smart Purchase program which offers a combination of traditional financing with some of the advantages of leasing (early termination of the term and returning the vehicle). 4. Pay cash. Quite frankly not many take this option because not many of us have all that money "under our mattress"! For those that do; before you bring it in, be sure to talk with our experts so that you can make an informed decision. In the end, if cash it is, then we would be glad to help you.

Purchasing

You have chosen your vehicle and now you need to decide on whether to purchase it, which generally requires a loan and monthly payment or whether you will lease it. While it varies depending upon the type of vehicle, we find in general it is close to an even split between customers who finance (purchase) and those who select leasing. When it comes right down to it – it's a personal choice!

• Ease of budgeting - no potential "extra kilometer" charges
• Not responsible to a third party for the condition of the vehicle
• You do not want a new vehicle every four to five years

More Car, More Often
Since your monthly payments are lower, you'll be able to get more car for the same money and drive a brand new vehicle every two to four years, depending on the term length of your leases.

Lower Upfront Cash Outlay
Most leases require little or no down payment, which makes getting into a new car more affordable and frees up your cash for other things. However, you can choose to make a down payment to lower your monthly payment amount.

Lower Tax Bite
In Canada, you don't pay sales tax on the entire value of a vehicle when you lease. You're only taxed on the portion of the value that you use during your lease. The tax is spread out and paid along with your monthly lease payment.

Alberta Leaseco is an in house leasing company. Through Alberta Leaseco you can lease all makes and models, they offer flexible lease terms, and preferred interest rates.

No Used-Car Hassles
With leasing, the headaches of selling a used car are eliminated. When your lease ends, you simply turn it back to the leasing company and walk away, unless you decide to buy it or trade it.

Flexibility
For those with special kilometer needs, Western Buick GMC (1999) Ltd. offers a variety of options, including low kilometer lease (20,000 kilometers per year), a standard kilometer lease (24,000 kilometers per year) and the ability to purchase additional kilometers at lease inception. Not to mention being able to amend your lease if you find you are driving much more than expected.
